Check this paper out: “The Peopling of the Pacific from a bacterial perspective” (Moodley et al. 2009. Science. Vol. 323. pp527–530).
New genetic (as well as linguistic) data confirmed the theory which places Taiwan as the homeland of Austronesian languages.
